What is Home Heartbeat?

The Home Heartbeat® system is the first personal awareness system for the home. It provides homeowners with anytime knowledge of the inner workings of their homes while they go about their daily lives by adding simple remote monitoring to ordinary household devices and systems. It treats all homeowner concerns—from comfort and convenience to safety and security—as a challenge that can be addressed by one scaleable solution. The wireless, plug-and-use system installs in just minutes, and its Home Key™ allows homeowners an all-in-one glimpse at the status and condition of their homes. The system can even be set up to send emails or text message alerts to cell phones when a problem is detected. Because it is wireless, it is also easy to upgrade by adding new components.

What Purposes Do The Sensors Serve?

The sensors act as monitoring devices to let you know if something is wrong in the home. Adding additional sensors and new kinds of sensors allow you to expand the Home Heartbeat System to match your specific home needs. Some of the current sensors available include:

Water Sensor

  • Notifies you of the presence or lack of water. Place it in the basement or laundry room to learn about flooding before it gets out of hand.
  • Water Shut-Off Valve
  • Automatically interrupts the main water supply line to your home in the event that a major leak is detected. From a burst pipe to a leaky toilet, this preventative measure can avoid hefty damage and cleanup costs.

Reminder/Timer Sensors

  • This handy sensor reminds you to check important systems around your home, or to perform a specific task on a regular basis. Choose from a list of pre-set tasks like a daily reminder to "Feed the Fish", a weekly reminder to "Take Out Trash" or those easy to forget monthly reminders like "Change Air Filter".

Open/Closed Sensor

  • You'll want to use many of these versatile sensors throughout your home. Let Home Heartbeat tell you when you've left open a window or forgotten to close the garage door. With their easy, peel-and-stick application you'll find endless uses for these tiny sensors.

Power Sensor

  • The power sensor alerts you if an appliance or electric device has been inadvertently left on. Use with entertainment systems, computers, kitchen appliances, and televisions - anything and everything that plugs into a wall socket. Did you remember to unplug the iron?

Attention Sensor

  • The touch-activated Attention Sensor helps you and those at home reach each other when immediate contact is important. This sensor acts as an instant messenger that can alert the Home Key device about a change in status or a task that needs done. For peace of mind, mount it beside an elderly parent's bedside or next to the front door so the kids can alert you the moment they come home- it's a great way to stay in touch and on top of life.

Can I Install The System Myself?

The Home Heartbeat system is meant to be installed by the homeowner. The system installs in minutes with these three easy steps:

  1. Activate

    - Plug in the Home Heartbeat Base Station to a phone line and power outlet
    - Slide the Home Heartbeat Home Key along the Base Station to personalize and program
    - Initialize the system first time you dock the Home Key
    - To get long-range usability a one-time activation fee will apply.

  2. Train

    - Slide your Home Key every time you add a new component to your system. It slides through each sensor the same way it docks with the Base Station. - Select a name for your sensor from the list of provided options
    - Place the sensor in the desired location by pressing firmly.
    - Test out the system, trip the sensor, and check for feedback on the Home Key display. If the sensor functions properly, but displays the wrong information, double-check the selections you made while training the sensor.

  3. Monitor

    - Take the Home Heartbeat Home Key with you to stay connected to your home. The wireless Home Key receives alerts within 90 Ft. of the base station keeping you informed of problems. (Range extenders are available to boost the base station signal and extend the range beyond 90 ft.)
    - A "Call Me" function allows Home Heartbeat to send emails or text messages to an SMS--text messaging enabled cell phone.
